“God created us with two hands; one to give with and one to receive with.”

In 2021, Daniel Bean moved to a small town called Goofy Ridge, Illinois, to work in the school district as well as pastor the church in the neighborhood. During this time, he met Brent Ressler with Helping Hands Resale Shoppe, and shared the idea of a resale shop in the area. The proceeds would help our low income neighborhood with household items and provide financial help. This ended up not being the right time or place, but the idea still lingered and he was hopeful to open a store somewhere else.

In 2023, there was a mission trip to Tanzania, and after talking to our trip leader Brittany, the resale shop became a reality. We formed a board, and began working with Helping Hands Resale to get our shop up and running. Daniel Bean became the President, Brittany Ufheil the Vice President & Tanzania Director, and Dan Belk our Treasurer & Tanzania trip member. Brittany asked her friend Sarah to join the board, and Daniel asked his friend, and former Young Life leader, Scott to join the board. They both said yes, and in April 2025, the doors opened for business.

Our store manager, Stacy, is the reason we are open. Without her, none of this would be possible.

Our mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community, while being generous to local organizations with our proceeds. Each month, we support two organizations with the proceeds our shop makes from sales. We also help our friends in Tanzania as they continue on their church building project. The next project is to build an elementary school so the kids have a local and affordable school to attend.

Thank you for your support of our little shop, and we hope to see you in soon!
